“Scratching” Our Future Leaders

Tweens & Technology Camp Kicks Off August 8, 2016

August 4, 2016, Raleigh, NC– T&T Creative Group presents its first annual one-week technology education camp, Tweens & Technology, held at St. Andrews United Methodist Church beginning August 8, 2016.  The camp is specifically designed for students entering the 4th and 5th grades desiring to learn about computers, digital media, and exploration of careers in technology.

Founder and CEO of T&T Creative Group, Derrick Thompson along with the company’s Community Relations Director, Jacqui Pomales-Moody and Director of Education, Deb Daniels, have designed the Tweens & Technology Curriculum focus using the fun, visual “Scratch” programming language.  The Scratch programming will introduce students to basic skill sets of creating their own interactive games, stories, and animations setting a foundation for further exploration in computer programming.

Thanks to the following sponsors, the students will not only walk away with an “all expense paid” one-week technology education and training program, but a FREE Google Chromebook to further their Tween & Technology Camp experience:  Raleigh Chapter of ISSA (Platinum Sponsor), Connected Women of North Carolina, Greg Handerhan (ISSA Board Member, Raleigh), Nathan Kim (ISSA Board Member, Raleigh), Robert Martin (ISSA Board Member, Raleigh), Mark Whitteker (President, Raleigh ISSA), and Judy and Keith Butler.

“There are many potential Steve Jobs and Bill Gates who are left behind (in technology) at an early age due to the lack of exposure and opportunity.  We established the Tweens & Technology program to prevent that from happening,” states Derrick Thompson, CEO of T&T Creative Group.  He adds, “T&T Creative Group’s professional contributions in workforce, citizenship and diversity development programs with various companies, corporations and organizations enabled our team to set the tone in establishing this education program.  We look forward to expanding our partnerships to engage, challenge and collaborate with manufacturing, technology and other industries to create more positive programs for our young people within our communities, nation and world!”.
